From our family to yours, Welcome! We’re glad you stopped by our new eco–savvy boutique. The short version of our story is that our family has been learning to consciously decrease our footprint on the environment by creating as much of a green lifestyle as possible. As we began shopping for green products – lifestyle items that are natural, organic and sustainable – we were disappointed with what we found: neutral colors and no pizzazz. Looking for unique, hip, and green lifestyle products became a passion for us, and gigglefish allows us an opportunity to share this passion with a broader audience.

At gigglefish we care – we care about the products we offer, we care about this planet we call home, and most importantly, we care about you. See, you’re the reason we do what we do – you (yes, you reading this very Web page) are an integral part of communicating an eco–conscious message, which you spread with every gift you give from our site. We aim to raise awareness and to create a fresh perspective by offering products that are green, on–trend and giftable. It’s something of an obsession for us, but at least we’re having fun – kind of like a treasure hunt: we hunt, and you find.

Simply put, the gigglefish vision is to make eco–consciousness fun. We see the need for awareness, and we hope to trigger a transition toward an environmentally–friendly attitude and to help our community become greener. With our colorful, playful green products, you can give a fun and thoughtful gift that also has deeper meaning. And your gift actually continues giving because most of our vendors support incredible charities or contribute to the planet. And with our gift wrap (one of our Get Hip Get Green shopping bags), it’s like a gift with a gift – totally reusable, and nothing gets thrown away.

gigglefish is a proud member of 1% for the Planet. This means that we give a percentage of our sales to a fund that helps to save the planet - namely The Ocean Foundation - which is doing valuable work to save our beloved oceans.

Because gigglefish cares about the environment, our products are not only fabulous gifts (think O List caliber), but they’re also good for the earth. It’s a great discovery when we find something like cutting edge designers who print their creations on 100 percent recycled stock – the designs are edgy, unusual, off the beaten path and surprising – so surprising you’d think there’s no way they can be green.

So what do we mean by “green”? We look for products that meet the code. The Green Code, that is: products that are one or more of the following:

• recycled – made of recycled materials or reused parts
• organic /sustainable – made of sustainable and/or natural materials that are easily biodegradable and fully recyclable.
• non toxic – to humans and the environment during production, their useful lives and decomposition.
• low energy consumers – use little or no energy during production, delivery to consumer and useful lives.
• fairly traded – made by workers who received a fair paycheck and were treated humanely.
• locally produced – support local economy and require no extensive shipping.
